Ancient-Future Medicine: Psilocybin Mushrooms and Psychedelic Therapy with Jahan Khamsehzadeh

Jahan Khamsehzadeh, Ph.D has spent two decades researching psychedelics in the context of both evolution and psychotherapy and says he “knows of no more powerful means of transforming consciousness than those that use the assistance of psychedelics.” In this in-depth and eye-opening discussion Jahan shares a pivotal psychedelic mystical experience. Jahan’s dissertation on psychedelics in the Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness program at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco was later published as the book The Psilocybin Connection: Psychedelics, the Transformation of Consciousness, and Evolution of the Planet – An Integral Approach (North Atlantic Books, 2022). He graduated from the University of Arizona with a major in Philosophy and minors in both Physics and Psychology then going on to earn a master’s in Consciousness and Transformative Studies from John F. Kennedy University. Additionally, Jahan has taken a comprehensive Hakomi somatic-psychotherapy training, assisted with the Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy Certificate training at CIIS for two years, mentored at the newly emerging School of Consciousness Medicine and trained in the Mazatec mushroom tradition. Currently, he works as a facilitator for legal psilocybin mushroom ceremonies in Jamaica with Atman Retreats, one of the few opportunities offered worldwide where people can legally experience psilocybin.
