Sound Healing, Neuroscience & Expanded Consciousness with Tom Kenyon

Posted on

Join Tom Kenyon, one of the most respected sound healers in the world today, as he reveals the profound ways in which sound intertwines with our consciousness for healing and spiritual growth. A researcher, composer, author, psychotherapist, and teacher, he is regarded as a pioneer in the field of psychoacoustic research. Tom shares his evolution from a young boy enchanted by using sound to alter his feelings and mood, to a masterful sound healer informed by both scientific insight and various spiritual traditions. He shares a mystical kundalini awakening experience that forever altered his path, activated forms of extrasensory perception and inspired him to study neuroscience to understand his spiritual insights. He has since studied multiple ancient wisdoms including Tibetan Buddhism, Taoism, Shamanism and Hinduism. Tom describes how he employs his nearly four-octave range voice in tandem with other acoustic instruments to induce altered, expanded states of consciousness that help access heightened creativity and spiritual insight. He explains the importance of conscious vs unconscious intentionality and how the brain’s marvellous capacity for neuroplasticity shapes our perception of reality. We also discuss his encounters with etheric beings the Hathors, and how he maintained open-minded skepticism to navigate the experience, revealing an otherworldly source of knowledge that he continues to collaborate with. As we contemplate the future of sound healing, Tom emphasizes how we are at the edge of great potential for a constructive or destructive future as a civilization, the delicate balance necessary for integrating timeless spiritual practices with modern scientific approaches and the importance of fostering heart-centered authenticity. This episode invites listeners to reflect on the profound ways sound can affect our minds, bodies, and spirit, contemplating the ‘field effects’ of our presence and language and how they contribute to the collective consciousness.

Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications, drama, and speech from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he also received the Raymond Taylor Award for Excellence in the Performing Arts. Additionally, Tom has completed coursework in humanistic and psychological counseling, breathwork and medical hypnosis through Columbia Pacific University and the Southeast Institute for Group and Family Therapy.
